KOTC is currently running Black Ops but will switch over to MW3 for our November 12th event.

Modern Warfare 3 Introduces Co-op Survival Mode

Infinity Ward is hoping to make Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 a stronger co-op experience than Modern Warfare 2. To accomplish that goal, they’re adding a new mode in MW3 called Survival.

According to this USA Today preview, Survival tasks players with fending off waves of enemies. The types of enemies you’ll face will change over time. Attack dogs, suicide bomber dogs, kamikaze soldiers, and juggernauts are some of the foes you’ll face.

“You definitely have to change up your strategy as the enemy changes up,” Infinity Ward’s Robert Bowling told USA Today. “Obviously how you fight the kamakazi dudes is different from how you fight the normal dudes and how you fight a dog is different from a dude and how you fight juggernauts, they are not only big and armored, so they will just brute force come at you. But they each have their own way of being taken out effectively.”

Survival mode sounds somewhat similar to the zombie mode in COD: Black Ops and World at War. Both those games were developed by Treyarch rather than Infinity Ward, though. It looks IW wants to put their own spin on COD co-op rather than just “copying” what the other developer does.

MW3 was officially revealed this week with a gameplay trailer. It’s set to be released on November 8th.
